Rest well my friend, rest well...

This entry is dedicated to a friend of mine, Kenneth Woo B'ng Hui. Born on 25th December 1987, Died on 2nd May 2003. Today marks his 4th death anniversary.

Kenneth started as an apprentice of mine during my days in IB Systems. Well he was 16 then; and in college already. Yea I must admit, he's a smart kid. A rich one too. But for a kid this rich, I really enjoy his friendship as he does not portray the spoil brat attitude that normally rich kids do these days. Really down to earth kinda guy.

On the night of 1st May 2003, I asked Kenneth to join my friends and I for a drink in one of the pubs in Bangsar. Initially our gathering was set at 11:30pm. Kenneth had some errands to run before joining up so he ended up pretty late and we were done with our bottle of Chivas already. All that was left was a can of Coke so I told him, "Since you come late there's nothing much for you to drink so here you go, finish this can of coke up!" A while later we all decided to call it a day as most of us were pretty worn out. So Kenneth then went somewhere else with his friend and we parted our ways.

The next morning, I received a call from Kenneth's mom's colleague, Felicia. She told me that Kenneth had passed on due to a road accident 4am last night. I didn't believe her as I told her I was with Kenneth the night before. She asked me to come down to the morgue if I don't believe. I went and I saw something that my eyes and mind refuse to believe. Laying there is Kenneth's lifeless corpse.

It took me a really long while to accept the fact as I felt then it was my fault of his death. If I hadn't asked him out the night before he would be perfectly safe at home. It's tough knowing that a close friend like him had to leave so early. As days passed and months went on, I slowly let go and learned to accept the fact that people come and go all the time. Time wasn't the factor at all.

So Kenneth if by any chance you see this entry from where ever you are, know that a whole lot of us missed you heaps bro. Will come by visit you later today and I'll definitely bring your favourite soya bean drink! Cheers bro; Hope you have a better life than anyone of us here.
