What an Experience

Photobucket

Have you ever experienced any scary incidents in taking a taxi before?

I never had until yesterday when I was taking a cab back to the company’s apartment from office. Usually the routine was pretty simple, I wave for a cab to stop, get on the car and give out the destination that I wish to go; upon arrival of the destination, pay the man and get off the cab. Done deal, no strings attached right?

Only this time around was different. I just landed from the airport from Malaysia to Singapore, got my ass as quickly as possible to the office to solve the problem they had so urgently sent me over to do.

With that of course I would be lugging my luggage all over the streets of Singapore, to the office and then at the end of the day’s work, I would grab another cab from my office, with my luggage and head back to the company’s apartment.

I did the same routine of taking a cab as mentioned above but due to an interesting “conversation” I had with the cab driver, when I left the cab after paying the driver, I walked back to the apartment only WITHOUT my luggage that I have placed inside the trunk earlier on.

I realized that only after I had taken a few steps away from the cab but the driver had already began to drive away. I was chasing the cab from behind shouting at him and waving my hands above the air so hard in hope to gain the driver’s attention but you know what? Even until I wave till both my arms are broken, the driver would not even notice a frantic ex-client chasing after his cab.

That’s it! I told myself, I have lost my luggage… All my clothes, towels, snickers, toiletries and others were inside that luggage back. All I have now in my possession is my notebook bag in which I was trying to be optimistic, telling myself at least I kept my passport, my wallet and the company’s notebook in the bag in which I’m carrying on me.

For a split moment, I recalled I did ask for a receipt for that cab ride and immediately, I searched frantically through a compartment in my bag to find that last piece of hope I could have to ever find my luggage again.

I found a lost and found number to call and so without hesitation, I dialed that number…tooot…..toooot…. “Sorry our operating hours are from 9am to 5pm. Please try again tomorrow during office hours.” I was like what the fuck?! It was already quarter past 6 and I don’t even have anything to wear of bath on for the night. I was stunned outside the guard house where the cab driver had dropped me not knowing what to do. Then another cab of the same company pulled over to drop off a client of his, I noticed there’s a telephone number at the back of the cab and started dialing the number in hope to be able to get some information on how to get back my bag.

Toot……Toot…. “Hello citycab” Thank goodness, I spoke to the lady about my case and she asked me if I have the cab’s license plate. I did actually, it was stated on the receipt. I felt proud of myself for taking the receipt :p

I gave the lady the license plate of the cab and she searched through her database and said, “Please hold on sir, I’m going to call the driver’s mobile phone.” I was relieved, really, I was… I waited patiently for a response and soon after several minutes, which sounded like ages to me, the lady responded… “Sorry sir, the number we have of this driver has been canceled. We are not able to contact him as of now. But we have left him a message in hope for him to reply.”

My heart sank, not knowing what to do. I decided to head up back the apartment and take a shower before heading out to meet my friends for dinner.

Back in the apartment, I was the only one staying there at that moment, so I went through the whole place to look for a towel or something I could use to wipe my body after a quick shower. Nothing! Nothing at all could be found. But soon later, I found a floor mat in the store room, a fresh clean one, mind you. I took it and started cleaning myself with it after my shower… gross right?? I know… =.=”

But then again what to do? I have nothing on me…

So after the awkward bath, I wore back my previous clothing and started to head out for dinner with my friends. By the time I reached the restaurant, I called the cab company again and this time around, she said she had found the driver’s number and asked me to call him to arrange on where to meet so he could bring my luggage back to me again.

God, I can’t express how thankful I am then when the driver after calling said he’ll drop by where I am then in 10 minutes to pass me back my belongings. He did indeed turn up however, and I got my stuff, then to show my gratitude, I shoved a 10 dollar bill into his shirt pocket despite him saying “No need la….” But I did insist.

Got my back happily and then I told myself, never again to put my luggage in the trunk if I can help it… sigh…what an adventure…

Back Here Again?~

Photobucket

Just shortly 3 weeks ago I was here working in Singapore.

I thought that would be the last time I would step foot to Singapore for work under this company, but shortly after, I was called again to come over due to some smarty pants electricity guy had end up tripping the power in the building of our office thus making a havoc in our server room.

Photobucket

As some of you might know, I'm the only IT guy that supports both Malaysia and Singapore; so when there's a problem with either one of the countries, I might have to end up going there if I couldn't solve it remotely.

Photobucket

True enough this case we faced, forced me to come to Singapore. I couldn't even connect to the network in Singapore. It's like as if the 2 countries decided to declare war on each other and end up not wanting to talk to one another =.="

So here I am again, back to this city to solve a problem that I originally isn't too confident in able to solve it. To tell you the truth, I was kinda skeptical about whether am I able to fix this problem. Coz from Malaysia, I couldn't even grasp what is the issue in the first place.

Thank god after a half day of checking and fiddling with the servers in the server room, after being cramped in that bloody small room for half a day, after cutting myself on the chest due to the cramped space by the metal cabinet, I was able to find the solution. It appears to me such a small issue but the outcome was such a havoc. I can honestly tell you, I can feel my bosses were breathing down my neck.

All I know is if I couldn't solve this issue here in Singapore, it would mean my resignation letter for this company. But I am really grateful now that the problem have been solved. And to top that up, I feel more confident to myself and even more proud about my skills and capability.

Thanks to Eileen, she had comforted me that I could do more that I thought I could; which it happened to be so true :) Thanks babe.

As of now, I'll do some more research on something at this office before I book my flight back to Malaysia this Thursday. Oh yea, When I first came, I bought only a 1 way ticket to Singapore; it clearly shows how lack of confidence I have in able to solve this problem....Guess I proved myself wrong eh? LOL

Comparing the Joker

Have you watch The dark Knight already? If you have not, what are you waiting for, go grab your tickets and enjoy the ride through out this movie. As for myself? I've watched it and I enjoyed it very much. As most movie goers, the public's eyes would normally be on the hero or the main actor of the movie. But guess what? This series of Batman, for my own personal opinion, The light shines hard on the bad guy, namely, The Joker.

As some of you may already know, there's this huge dispute on who is be better joker amongst the 3 actors. One being the old school joker starred by Cesar Romero, The modern day joker by Jack Nicholson, and the other by the latest joker from the dark knightHeath Ledger.

Cesar Romero:

Photobucket

Positives: Very animated, exceptional laugh, and of course, great over-exaggerated smile.

Negatives: Maybe it’s just me but although Cesar Romero added much arm movement to animate The Joker character, he seemed a bit stiff with his legs (unlike The Riddler in the original TV series - quite animated). I would have liked to have seen a bit more jumping around (am I being too picky?). Also, his lines were a bit cheesy. Of course that’s no fault of Mr. Romero’s, but it’s still something to consider.

Jack Nicholson:

Photobucket

Positives: Best facial expressions out of the three. The perfect marriage of a comical court jester and a murderous criminal.

Negatives: Laugh was just so-so. Also I personally didn’t care for all the hats he wore. You gotta show off the disheveled chemically mutated hair. He also wasn’t as animated as I’d like him to be. But then again, Mr. Nicholson is known for his personality and acting prowess, not for jumping around.

Heath Ledger:

Photobucket

Positives: You can’t really tell it’s Heath Ledger (and it’s a positive because if you could tell it was him, you probably wouldn’t be able to get the image of The Joker sodomizing Jake Gyllenhaal out of your head). Also, it looks like he has some good threads in this one (rather than the typical purple and green attire). And finally, it sounds like he has a pretty good laugh - not too corny, not too forced.

Negatives: In some shots in The Dark Knight movie trailer, The Joker kinda looks homeless, which actually works against my assumption that he’ll have some interesting attire (we’ll have to wait and see). Also, the white makeup and red lips look like The Joker just got drunk and fell into his mother’s makeup case.

Overall, After watching the dark knight, I personally feel that Ledger does a better job in the joker compared to the previous 2 icons.

Heath portrayed the homicidal side of the joker. His laugh portrays great evil within and by the way he looks, he's very much unpredictable. And just like the joker in the comic, he throws a bad joke over from time to time.

The previous 2 jokers kinda shows they are trying too hard to crack a joke and their laugh are much forceful compared to Ledger's natural look-a-like laughs.

Below is a video of the comparison of the joker character of Jack and Heath, I'm sorry I couldn't find the comparison one for Cesar but the 2nd video is a performance by the late Cesar Romero. Enjoy...

A Shitty Melody?

Ever had a melody being sung during your certain moods and it clicks so well till you're even amazed with it?

Apparently this just happened to me yesterday. These things do happens but it only happens once in a blue moon and you would probably have to wait another long while before it happens again. I have these situations very often though... But this incident happened to me which was weird, funny and most of all, twice in a day!!

You know some office buildings, you have these soft speaking embedded to your ceiling playing music from the radio or some CDs? Our office have this system as well but it's mostly tuned to a radio station called Light and Easy. It usually plays those oldies and light tunes to sooth your already stressed day at work.

Case 1:

I was very busy in the morning, well usually I would be busy in the morning as people will ask of me to do something or probably even some system or server is acting up. I wouldn't have much time to talk or even do any of my personal stuff like checking emails, facebooks or so on. :p

OK As I was saying, it's a usual routine that I would go to the washroom to do my "business" in the morning. I was so stressed and busy till the extent where it even wouldn't allow me to get my daily "business" done. So after completing my job, all worn out from work in the morning session, I stole some time off to do what I NEED to do.

As I was half way there, sitting down on the toilet seat, taking a dump while smoking my stress away, there I heard this song, the song where the radio was playing over the ceiling...

Feelings - Engelbert Humperdinck

Here goes the Lyrics...

Feelings.....nothing more than feelings....
Trying to forget my....my feelings of LOOOVEEE~~~

I was like WTF?! I'm already FEELING stressed out and then this song kicks in to boost my FEELINGS~! I was already almost on my edge when this song really kicks in to add spice to the mood =.="

Case 2:

This also happened the very same day except it's during the evening. I'm not sure whether is it the food or something but my stomach was aching like a wild monkey beating on drums...

I gushed to the toilet, in a very panicky way, trying to remove my pants as fast as I could but you know, the faster you try to do it, the harder it is for you to take it off...then I heard....

And the lyric goes....

Step by step... OOoohh Baby....

I was like Dammit!! Can't a man take a dump in peace??!!

First Musical Ever

Have you guys ever been to a staged musical before? Honestly I have not and as of 2 weeks back, I have lost my virginity of staged musical.

It's called The Beauty and The Beast. You know the old classical fairy tale where an ordinary girl who meets this ugly ferocious beast then somehow she managed to "tame" the beast up and they got together and be happily ever after, bla bla bla, the story usually goes on and on and on with one villain.

Eileen got us 2 tickets for the premier musical and it worth RM350 each. Plus we get to meet the cast before the show starts. Here's some pictures we took that day

Photobucket

It was said in our ticket that we can meet the cast in Room 304 and 305. We were like wondering how come we have to go into a hotel room to meet the cast? I was hoping more like a private "meet" LOL but unfortunately there were swarms of people hanging around the meeting hall.

Note that I looked kinda shy in the picture. Please take note that I wasn't ready for the picture taking yet when the photographer SNAPPED our picture. Somehow I have this feeling that I may be a very shy person from the inside. I know I know, A lot of you would puke or make funny noises when I say that I'm shy but heck, the picture proves it all!

Photobucket

Photobucket

It was said that we're not allowed to take any pictures in the theater but you know what? we're Malaysians and we do what Malaysians do best - Breaking the LAW. Till you think this is barely enough, we also did....

Photobucket

Hmm... What else... Oh sorry about not being able to blog last week. I was on a busy work schedule and was relocated to Singapore for the week. Sadly, there wasn't much pictures taken while I was there apart from the evening I'm at the airport about to go back to Malaysia; So I figured it really isn't much to blog about it. But guess what?

Usually people would go to another country to shop for clothing or even accessories when there's a giant sales going on. BUT.... I didn't manage to get myself any of those. Well, I found a Polo Ralph Lauren Shirt that I've been looking for a long time but when I had that opportunity to buy it, I blew that chance away. Instead, I got these...

Photobucket
Tiesto's Search of Sunrise 7. This CD has been out for a while but our Beloved Country (sense the sarcasm) had not gotten it in yet...

Photobucket
Cafe Del Mar Vol 15. I've always loved the gentle sound of chill music from this series. I didn't even know volume 15 was released until I saw it in Singapore... Again... Our beloved country...

Photobucket
Firelight. Never heard of this band before though but it's quite good, Music wise. I mean it's rock and all but somehow it reminds me a little of Evanescence.

And last but not least, Eileen made me look like a fool.... I'm amazed how big a panda can grow up to... Dammit my tummy's showing....
